Britain’s largest celebration of Japanese popular culture, Hyper Japan, is returning this summer for its tenth edition in London on 15-17 July, back by popular demand at Olympia London.
As well as a slew of anime, gaming, kawaii and Japanese cultural experiences; this year’s festival sees the return of COSTest, a competitive cosplay competition held on the Sunday of the event which celebrates the skills of those cosplayers who go the extra mile to make bespoke costumes that show their love for their characters.
The festival will also see headlining performances by the electro/rap duo Charisma.com and Azumi Inoue, who frequently sings for Studio Ghibli. With its extensive line-up of street food vendors and alternative confectionary treats, the event is sure to be a crowed pleasing festival.
In a press release on this year’s 10th anniversary, Managing Director Kazuhiro Marumo goes on to state:
“I’m looking forward to welcoming London to our milestone, tenth HYPER JAPAN Festival 2016. After growing popularity it’s great to see Japanese culture becoming a staple in the capital’s event calendar. For our tenth festival we are working harder than ever to ensure the magic of Japan is captured at Olympia and is delivered to our loyal attendees and newcomers.”
Hyper Japan 2016 takes place at the Olympia Grand in London on Friday 15th – Sunday 17th July. For tickets and more on this year’s event, head over to Hyper Japan’s site here.
