First released back in September in Japanese, this English subtitled trailer for Death Note Light up the NEW world , the live-action Death Note sequel was recently published by the Australian distributors Madman Entertainment ahead of its release on the 10th November.
The film will be released in Japan on the 29th October and is directed by Shinsuke Sato ( live-action Gantz, Gantz: Perfect Answer). Namie Amuro performs the films theme song “Dear Diary” (previewed in the trailer).
Incorporating the “Six-Note Rule” which allows for only six Death Notes to exist at any one time in the human world (limiting the number of Shinigami to six); in the new film’s story, a highly advanced information society is beset by global cyber-terrorism in 2016. New charismatic figures, who “inherited the DNA” of Light and the detective L, emerge. The successors of the two geniuses will wage a war over six Death Notes on Earth.”
The film is based on the 2003-2006 supernatural suspense manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, which spawned one of the most popular and far reaching anime series of the same name, not to mention a slew of numerous other media productions. It follows the teenager Light Yagami who finds a notebook which allows its user to put people to death by writing their names. With it, he takes aim against the criminals of the world declaring himself judge, jury and executioner which sparks of game of cat and mouse with a genius detective.
